Introducing Big Blue Door's first apprentice

It’s been a busy first quarter here at Big Blue Door. We moved office the last week of February, the same week we welcomed our first Drupal Apprentice, Miles Lemon, to the team. Miles is on a 14-16 month Drupal Web Development Apprenticeship programme run by Happy Apprenticeships, which leads to a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship qualification. Before being nominated to progress to the interview stage, Miles completed a two-week intensive Drupal boot camp. He now spends four days a week here with us in the office, and one day studying and completing course work.

Miles’ first project was to migrate an existing internal Big Blue Door site from PHP to Drupal 8. We asked him to improve the website's functionality by looking at the layout and adding additional features, such as searching, filtering and sorting content.

Miles is already proving to be of great value to the team and we are very happy to have him on board. The actual process was very easy, and we would highly recommend this apprenticeship programme.
