Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)- Intranet launch

19 October 2017

We're delighted to have recently launched a brand new intranet for the Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), built over the last three months in collaboration with Verve Communications. We have led on the design, development and hosting of this brand new Intranet for medical practitioners and staff within the Lambeth CCG. This new site replaces an existing Intranet and practice portal on the CCG website which were previously being run separately and in parallel.

After a competitive tendering process Big Blue Door and Verve Communications were selected to work in partnership to design, develop, populate and host this new Intranet site. This project involved working with the new brand NHS guidelines, and included running an extensive research phase completing workshops with CCG staff and practice colleagues. A number of initial wireframe and design approaches were reviewed at stakeholder and steering group workshops to ensure that the site appealed to its diverse audience. The website was designed by our design team and has been delivered using a fully responsive template ensuring that CCG practitioners can access the Intranet via desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

The site was delivered using an agile methodology, utilising three fortnightly sprints for the technical build, with the entire project delivered over a three month period. Technically the site has been built using Drupal 7 as its Content Management System and uses Apache Solr for search. Given our work with a number of other health clients and experience in delivering Intranets and Extranets for clients such as Ofsted, Health Research Authority and E-ACT we were able to quickly deliver the project to time and budget. Using our previous experience we have delivered features such as a staff directory, an events calendar, resources directory, news feed and integration with MailChimp to allow CCG staff to easily send out two distinct newsletters to staff, automatically summarising new content available on the Intranet - useful for the busy practitioner on the move.

In addition, we are providing secure hosting for the service in UK data centres and ongoing application support and maintenance, ensuring that all Drupal modules and security updates are delivered in a timely manner going forwards.
